The Center for Neighborhood Sustainability - Experiential Workshops
The center is a place where teachers, community leaders, students, and residents work to improve the neighborhood in sustainable ways, using local resources. We put theory into practice by offer teaching, training, and guidance to groups of all ages and abilities. In these workshops we will experience how we can change our urban environment:
Building with mud - return to mother earth as the main raw material for construction.
Create fertilization (compost) - from leftover lunch to food for the garden.
Urban agriculture - how to grow vegetables in your house.
Recycling water (gray water) - water saving and watering the garden
Dinning with Café Ringelblum
We initiated and run Café Ringelblum, a community restaurant serving gourmet food to regulars and visitors. The Café provides employment for 10 at-risk youth each year, offering them a holistic environment that includes rehabilitation, education, a family atmosphere, and work experience. A social worker is available at the Café each day. You are welcome to:
Eat at the Café - we offer special prices for groups with a short presentation about the project.
Take away - we offer lunch boxes with sandwiches and salads.
Tensions, difficulties and opportunities in the unique ‘Delat’ neighborhood - Tour
‘Delat’ neighborhood is an impoverished area where old immigrants old and young students life together. You will meet: neighborhood residents and business owners. You will see: the railway bridge, University Gate, the restaurants street, Café Ringelblum and the Center for Neighborhood Sustainability.

The Center serves as a Town Square where residents come together for daily meetings, events, seminars and workshops revolving sustainability. This model has already been replicated in more than 10 communities throughout Israel.
